NASA recently released imagery showing the deforestation of America  …in just 34 years.

the picture on the left is this one:

except edited to appear significantly greener. It was taken February 8, 2002 (source). In fact, the only thing that comes up when you try to search for a view of the earth from space in 1978 is the first “blue marble” picture taken by Apollo in 1972 HERE and a TV show called “The Big Blue Marble” (the popular name for this type of view of the earth) that aired in 1978 HERE
this is the image on the right:

Actually taken in 2012, January 4, 2012 in fact, the middle of winter when most trees don’t have leaves. (source)
This is a completely fictionalized representation of deforestation in North America. The real story is that prior to the arrival of colonists around the sixteenth century, there were about 4,000,000 square kilometers compared with today’s 3,000,000 square kilometers. Furthermore, nearly all of this deforestation took place prior to 1910, and the forest resources of the United States have remained relatively constant through the entire 20th century (source)

this too.

who cares

lets all be more intelligent and look up that the 2012 picture was taken in the middle of winter when most trees have lost their green leaves. OH, and the 1978 picture is actually from 2002. Congrats on spreading lies
